The year 2025 is shaping up to be full of a large amount of quality art and content from all around the world. Romance, action, science fiction, and fantasy. Whether it be additions to long running franchises, exciting and refreshing reboots of nostalgic acts, or what is hopefully the beginning of something new. There is a lot to look out for, and I'm going to be sharing my personal favorites in no particular order.

  1. Superman

    Release Date: July 11th, 2025
    Release Date: July 11th, 2025

The start of the brand new DCU Universe being led by James Gunn was something that I was very optimistic and excited for, but with some hesitation. I am a huge James Gunn fan, but I was not totally sure how he would do being completely in charge of a massive franchise. He has his style that works, and is clearly passionate about every aspect of comic books and their history, but after seeing everything he announced I was a little worried. The things being released in the order they're being released was strange to me. It had things like The Authority and Creature Commandos and Swamp Thing before we have any sort of major Wonder Woman movie or even a Batman movie. We are getting Brave and The Bold, which perhaps wouldn't have been my first choice for the first Batman movie.

But then the trailer for Superman was released, and it was FANTASTIC. Such an awesome and incredible look at what to expect for the future of the franchise and with so much attention to detail and exciting creative decisions. I am very hyped for this movie, as it has many things that seem to be working in its favor. I hope that it can stick the landing and start the path to success for DC.

David Corenswet seems like the absolute perfect casting for Clark Kent/Superman, carrying such a great personality for both in his short scenes they've shown. The rest of the cast looks incredible, with the likes of Nathan Fillion, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult all looking perfect in their roles. I really am very excited, and can't wait to be a kid in a candy store loving all the references that come up.

  2. The Fantastic Four: First Steps

    Release Date: July 23rd, 2025
    Release Date: July 23rd, 2025

One of the most exciting movies that the MCU has had in a long time. The fact that people weren't ever sure if Marvel would be able to use the Fantastic 4 ever, but now they get to is exciting. The movie has not had too much released, which I'm happy about.

The casting announcements alone were major news and speculation. A whole lot of guessing and trying to figure it out, leading to a star studded cast that is incredibly exciting. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn acting as Marvel's first family is exciting. I hope that they have great chemistry and can truly feel like a family. A stacked line up.

As for the villains, it seems to be Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson) and Silver Surfer (played by Julia Garner) and I'm very excited to see how each of them look and act, especially with them hopefully being major players in the future of the MCU. Great additions to the cosmos of the vast Universe. And I am excited mostly to see how they tie in the the group into the main MCU. Whether it's an alternate Universe or same one just decades before, it will be a lot of fun to witness.

  3. Going Dutch

    Release Date: January 2nd, 2025
    Release Date: January 2nd, 2025

A television series that has already had the first 2 episodes come out, I am excited to wait and binge this show beginning to end.

After an offensive rant, Colonel Patrick Quinn is reassigned to lead Garrison Stroopsdorf, a military base in the Netherlands that is the "least important Army base in the world".

As an American living in The Netherlands, I am very excited to see what community ensues with culture shock that I myself felt. Along with a star studded cast of Denis Leary, Danny Pudi, and more incredibly talented character actors coming together is sure to be a gut busting time. And I will be watching on with excitement that I hope the show can maintain and make me fully enjoy.

  1. Ballerina

    Release Date: June 5th, 2025
    Release Date: June 5th, 2025

John Wick is perhaps the single greatest franchise over the past decade or so. Some of the best, most creative, most stylish, most unique action movies that America has made in a very long time. It revitalised Keanu Reeves career in my eyes, and had me excited to see what else the franchise would hold.

Taking place between John Wick 3 and 4, we get to see the addition Ana de Armas into the franchise as a new killer. A ballerina who is beginning to train in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma, which is an incredible way to tie more and creative killers into the unique world that is this universe. Having a "gimmick" in a sense, like in the past with a blind killer, is a fun way to expand and explore.

Ana de Armas is a super talented actor and I am super excited to see how she does in this role. Will there be cameos of characters from movies past? I don't know. But that is what will keep me excited and engrossed throughout. I just hope that the action scenes can hold up to the past movies and add their own amount of creativity in the choreography and cinematography.

  1. Daredevil: Born Again

    Release Date: March 4th, 2025
    Release Date: March 4th, 2025

Daredevil on Netflix was one of the single best, grittiest, realistic superhero shows that I can think of. An incredible acting performance from the main lead, along with a lot of stars in the rest of the cast. Some of the best fight scenes that television has seen, and a very engrossing, ever evolving world.

Charlie Cox is the greatest comic book actor in terms of playing his character that I can think of. He is endlessly charismatic and charming in the best way. His little appearances in the MCU in She-Hulk, Spider-Man No Way Home, and Echo were all so much fun. Such great little teasers for this main course of what is sure to be a great show.

Aside from Charlie, the returns of fan favorites like Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, and Elden Henson as Franklin "Foggy" Nelson has me incredibly excited. It seems like it will be a great way to both tie into the original series without being SO repetitive and referential that people will have to go back and watch 4 long seasons of incredible television. I also just hope the action scenes are as good as the past.

  1. Avatar: Fire and Ash

    Release Date: December 19th, 2025
    Release Date: December 19th, 2025

I am a major fan of the Avatar franchise. Just how creative and expansive it is with so much incredible ideas and unique ways of exploring the world. The first movie was incredible at the time, but upon a recent rewatch doesn't QUITE match what I remember.

But then I saw the sequel, which was a absolutely beautiful and heartfelt movie. An amazing expansion of the world and the lore, which are things that I love to see in big franchises like this. It was so great to witness the advancement of CGI technology.

In the 3rd instalment, we are seeing the returns of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, and Stephen Lang who have all been the best parts of the past two films. The performances in these movies, despite them really all being hidden by CGI aliens, the technology is so great that the performances and acting is incredible. So much emotion and subtle things that translate seamlessly.

I know nothing about the story, but that makes me more excited to see what additions that they make to the world and the growth of the cultures and different tribes. I am assuming it will do with a fire tribe of some kind, but that sounds like it will be incredibly exciting to see such a unique and hopefully new and creative aspect of their cultures.

  2. Tron: Ares

    Release Date: October 11th, 2025
    Release Date: October 11th, 2025

I was a massive fan of the past Tron movies, especially Legacy. The world looks incredible, the score is one of the best in a modern motion picture, and the story was incredible. I have been excited for this movie ever since it was announced, and I will wait however long I have to to get something great.

The cast includes stars like Jared Leto, Evan Peters, Greta Lee, and Hasan Minhaj. That's a great line up, and I can't wait to find out more about the movie in the coming months. Whether it be additional characters or actors attached to the project, I can't wait to see how it does.

The story, or at least the very brief synopsis we have at this day, also has me very excited. "Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings."

I can't WAIT to see a brand new formula for Tron movies and doing something exciting and fun!

  3. American Primeval

    Release Date: January 9th, 2025
    Release Date: January 9th, 2025

A series that examines the fight to gain control of the American West and the sometimes violent clash between religion and culture in the Utah Territory. A very exciting and BRUTAL look at historical mistreatment and fighting between colonisers and Native American tribes.

I am incredibly excited for this show and seeing something so wild and dark. Something so heavy and serious. My favorite type of show are those kinds, that have a gritty and almost grimdark quality to them. A very exciting show that just recently came out at the time of writing, and I'm excited.

And with the stacked line up of stars like Taylor Kitsch, Betty Gilpin, Dane DeHaan, and Jai Courtney makes it a big plus for those who care about big names. I more so care in that I know that they are all great, and will be putting on the best performances they can.

  4. Squid Game Season 3

    Release Date: TBA
    Release Date: TBA

I am a massive fan of the Squid Game series. The first season was so incredibly unique and creative, making something that had never been seen before the hottest thing on the entire planet. It was great.

The second season was much more unique and creative, turning things on their head and having so many new and added elements. While I can understand people not liking it as much, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Huge fan.

Nothing is known about it from my end. If some stuff has come out about the story or what direction it is going in, I have no idea. I am hoping to go in completely blind and just enjoy the wild ride that it is sure to take me on.

The cast of this past season has been spectacular, and the massive amount of deaths have been shocking and engaging. I am excited to see who survives by the end of the final season, and I seriously just am getting excited even writing this.

  5. The Night Agent Season 2

    Release Date: January 23rd, 2025
    Release Date: January 23rd, 2025

I absolutely loved the first season of Night Agent. The incredibly fun and unique story following all sorts of wild twists and turns adding on top of wild intrigue. Such an awesome show that has me incredibly excited to see what else will happen.

I don't remember too much of the first season all too well, so I don't know how much it will tie in to the previous story. I just hope we get to see more of the incredibly talented Gabriel Basso.

Seeing what I can find, it appears to be more of a field agent type thing, which will mean a lot more wild action scenes I hope. The first season had some amazing sequences that I loved and hope we can get things that at least match up to it.

  6. The Recruit Season 2

    Release Date: January 30th, 2025
    Release Date: January 30th, 2025

Much like Night Agent, the show The Recruit follows a government agent/spy being brought into a whole new world of intrigue and twists going wild. A bunch of cracking off chaos with multiple layers of complexity and allegiances that is just as exciting to watch as you could possibly imagine.

Noah Centineo does an incredible job as the lead star of the show, carrying it with such swagger and poise surrounded by some comedic goofballs and incredibly serious and more experienced people. Noah perfectly bridges the gap between them, keeping the show incredibly well balanced in seriousness and comedy in the greatest way possible.

According to Netflix, The Recruit season 2 sees Owen "pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realise that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency". Now if that doesn't sound enticing and intriguing, I don't know what does!

  7. Zootopia 2

    Release Date: November 26th, 2025
    Release Date: November 26th, 2025

Zootopia was one of the best, most creative, most interesting animated movies over the past few years. An incredibly well done work of art by Disney, showing why they are up there as one of the greatest animated movie studios out there.

The incredibly mature take on the story of racial relations is something that can still be watched and related to today, as sad as that is.

We know that the cast includes Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin returning as Wilde and Hopps respectfully. But we're also seeing Ke Huy Quan and Fortune Feimster joining in, who are both incredibly talented actors and Quan especially being one of the best comedic actors in the world right now.

  8. The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol

    Release Date: October 15th, 2025
    Release Date: October 15th, 2025

Following the life of Marcel Pagnol, a playwright, novelist, and filmmaker who grew up in a middle-class household in Marseille, and how he became one of the world's most inventive and prolific artists from the 1930's to the 1950's.

I know nothing about Mr. Pagnol, but the art style and animation alone has me beyond excited for this movie. It has the sleekest, more beautiful and creative art I have seen since the movie Love Vincent.

I will have no idea what this movie is truly about aside from it being based on a real figure, but I won't necessarily know if any of it will be lies or true. I'm mostly just excited for the visual aspect and hope that the story will be able to match that.

  9. Wildwood

    Release Date: 2025
    Release Date: 2025

Why am I excited for this movie despite nothing not a single thing about the story or the book that it is based off of?

BECAUSE IT'S MADE BY THE SAME PRODUCTION STUDIO AS CORPSE BRIDE, CORALINE, KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS, AND MISSING LINK!

    TAKE ALL OF MY MONEY!!!

    C

  10. Troll 2

    Release Date: 2025
    Release Date: 2025

A sequel that I had NO idea was being made until very recently, but the original Troll movie from 2022 Norway was absolutely incredible. Such a brilliant and fun movie about a giant monster that I thought was perfectly fine being a solo outing, yet I'm excited to see what else they add.

Not a whole lot seems to be known about it now, but I'm incredibly excited. I am certain it will at the very least be just as good as the first one, which is already a pretty high bar. A very unique approach to folklore from Scandanavian countries that doesn't get enough love. I am very excited to see what else the world has to offer outside of the US for film.

I know that there are plenty of things that I may not be aware of or don't know if I will enjoy or not, but this is my list so far and I hope people are as excited as I am for at least one of these shows or movies. I'll try to make reviews for all of these if I can, hopefully all of them being positive and at the very least a 6 or 7 out of 10.
